8. Soft Harness

Small dogs are more prone to tracheal problems that can be caused by pulling on a traditional collar and leash. My first go to would be some proactive training curb the behavior. But if your dog is at risk or is already showing issues from pulling, you’ll want a harness to take the pressure away from their neck. The soft mesh harnesses can provide even more comfort for your dog. Note that a harness gives your dog more ability to pull, so I would still highly recommend training to make walking more enjoyable for both you and your dog.

9. Anxiety Treats

Okay, so both large and small dogs can have anxiety. But I think it’s safe to say that a lot more small dogs tend to be anxious verses big dogs. This is partially due to their small vulnerable size but can also be from lack of exercise, mental stimulation, or bad breeding. Anxiety is damaging to your dog’s mental and physical wellbeing. There are natural treats with calming herbs and ingredients that can help your dog calm down.

Small dogs hate temperature extremes on their feet whether it’s too cold or too hot. Shoes provide much needed protection from the elements. There are shoes for big dogs and small dogs. Shoes also come in handy if your dog tends to constantly lick their paws dur to allergies, or if they have an injury. Some sort of shoe can prevent them from aggravating the problem.

11. Reusable Potty Pads

It’s common for small dog owners to provide their small dogs with potty pads. It’s more difficult for a small dog to hold their bladder for long spans of time. Common potty pads are disposable and add to the trash promlem we are facing theses day. Opt for reusable potty pads that can be washed and reused. You’ll likely want to find a special enzymatic detergent to properly remove the smell from the pads. There’s also artificial potty grass mats you can buy if your dog prefers more of the real outdoor feel.

12. Soft Carrier

I generally like the classic plastic crates for dogs because of their durability. But small dogs are less harsh on things. And having a padded shoulder strap provides an easier way to carry them verses having to hold it with your hand.
